Q: Our dog has chronic ear yeast problems. which ear cleanser do you recommend for preventitive cleansingmfor this problem specificaslly.does it matter whether to use the otomax ointment or liquid? is the generic ok? thank you so much.
A: Otomax is not really an ointment, but a thick liquid. we recommend the 1800petmeds ear cleansing solution. it is effective, but gentle enough to use daily if you so wish.

What to do
Q: I have a 10 year old manix that i think is experiencing seizures. she will lose her balance and lays on the floor and it sounds like she is crying and biting at her legs. she will also urinate and it lasts for about 5 to 10 seconds. i will go over to her and speak real softly and coax her back up on her feet. after this she will seem confuse and sleeps alot. it seems to happen the most when she is trying to clean herself towards the back. what is this. she use to like to go outside on the deck, now she is not enjoying that activity. could this be the beginning of a back problem. what can i do?
A: There is a syndrome known as feline hypersesthesia syndrome which is what is known as a neuro dermatitis.. stimulation to certain areas of spine i.e petting or grooming can trigger neurological activithy. sometimes it is due to underyling allergies either food or inhalent allergies which your vet can address. but she should also have complete medical workup to make sure no underyling other causes
Heartworms
Q: Is heart worm medication needed in the tucson az area? thank you
A: The answer is yes. heartworm preventative should be used anywhere there is the possibility of mosquitos.
Hybrid
Q: We raise hybrids, we have a 10 months old named kodiak he is very large for his age and suffers from a hip problem. it has gotten worse since the cold has set in here. can we give him gluosamine sulfate to help his jionts ?! i noticed it had potassium 107 mg/ glucosamine 1,000 mg. we were told 1/2 a pill a day is this correct or do you recommend something else? sunni aniwayah breeding
A: I recommend having him seen by your veterinarian to determine the cause of the lameness. he is much too young for arthritis. there are many other causes of lameness in young dogs. after the cause is identified appropriate treatment can be started.
Big ? for big problem
Q: What is the best flea and tick medicine for 1 cat and 2 dogs and what to treat the house and yard with also?
A: Because you have a cat in your household, i would use frontline plus on all three. you can treat your home with virbac foggers, or a residual powder like zodiac fleatrol. for the yard we have virbac yard concentrate. spray especially under shrubs and tree and tall grasses where the fleas hide from the sunlight.|we guarantee the best price on anything you purchase from us.
